Jeff library closes due to pandemic

Library services are a phone call away

The board of trustees of the Jefferson Public Library at their Nov. 9 regular meeting decided to close the library due to the rise in the positivity rate of the coronavirus in Greene County, effective immediately.

Although the library buildings will be closed to foot traffic until the numbers go back down, the library will continue to provide services through curbside pickup and home delivery.  Patrons can call the library at 386-2835 (adult & teen department) or 386-4415 (children’s department) weekdays between 9 am and 6 pm to place a request for books, movies, jigsaw puzzles, magazines, board games, and any other library materials for out.

Librarians will also fill requests to make photocopies, send and receive faxes, scan documents, make photos on the Kodak kiosk, look up information and provide Notary services.

The library provides free 24/7 wireless internet access in their parking areas. eBooks and audiobooks may be downloaded free using the Bridges app on the library’s website.  Patrons can call the library for assistance in accessing any of the virtual services offered on the Library’s website:  www.jefferson.lib.ia.us

The library will also continue to provide programs for all ages in a virtual format during this closure. The public may access information about these programs through the library’s Facebook page and website.

The library trustees, staff, and Friends thank everyone for their understanding and support, and encourage Greene County residents to stay safe during this time.
